All of the
shots on this page were taken with the
Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera.
This was my first digital
camera.
There are so many digital cameras available that when I was researching what to buy,
it became somewhat confusing.
I really didn't know quite what to expect when I started shooting digital
photos.
I have very been pleasantly surprised.
I must say to anyone considering a digital camera
that you have to realize the limitations of your equipment, and also the advantages you
have.
I now shoot extensively with the Fuji Finepix S1 Pro digital SLR that uses Nikon lenses.
Advantages:
++ Silent operation,
++ Very lightweight and portable
++ Very cheap to operate...
even with AA batteries, non-rechargeable,
you can get a hundred photos for just a few dollars
++ Great lens -
++ Very sensitive to light-- and with a cheap infrared filter you can do infrared
++ Many exposure modes, manual, B/W, macro, wide, telephoto
++ Swivel viewer -- really makes this camera versatile
++ Very reasonable price, for what you get
I got mine used on Ebay, with many accessories, for $350
++ Very durable -- I take mine everywhere
Disadvantages
-- Slow autofocus
-- Tiny flash --No flash cord outlet, either,
or a flash mount.
I get around this by using it sometimes to trigger
large studio lights or portable flash units
